Sunset Monitoring Services was founded as a private company, which provides only the very highest quality, and lowest cost, electronic monitoring services, such as; Voice Recognition presence monitoring, Radio Frequency (RF) ankle-bracelet curfew monitoring, in-home and remotely monitored Breath-Alcohol Testing/Monitoring and of course, GPS ankle-bracelet tracking/monitoring (either with or without integrated - continuous alcohol and/or curfew monitoring).
By encourraging and enabling offenders who are employed, to remain employed and productive, and by helping to prevent them from becoming “institutionalized”, and/or alienated from society and their families, and by not exposing them to the influence of the more hardened criminal population, which must be incarcerated, recidivism and criminal escalation are markedly reduced. The monetary expenses to the community are greatly reduced as well, right from the start, since the financial burden, for all practical purposes, is as it should be, born entirely by the offender, who created the expense in the first place.

Sunset Monitoring Services is also very proud and pleased to provide very inexpensive GPS tracking/monitoring solutions, which can be extremely helpful for those with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Memory Loss, Brain Trauma or many other forms of diminished mental capacity, as well as for families who could use some assistance in keeping track of loved-ones with Autism, Down Syndrome or any other factor, which may result in their loved-ones tending to lose focus and possibly wandering off, or for whatever reason, may require extra close and careful monitoring by care givers.
The Basics of Who We Are:
Sunset Monitoring Services was originally conceived and created, to fill the void, which came about when The State of Utah Department of Corrections, Division of Adult Probation and Parole (AP&P) discontinued the State Managed, Electronic Offender Monitoring Program in the early months of 2009. Sunset Monitoring Services' core business since then, has been to operate a professionally managed, criminal justice oriented and/or alcohol abuse treatment program based, electronic monitoring services company throughout the State of Utah. We are currently in the process of expanding our professionally provided service areas throughout the Inter-Mountain Western United States.
Sunset Monitoring Services also proudly provides our professional electronic monitoring services to clients with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Memory Loss, Brain Trauma and/or other forms of diminished mental capacity. These services are also available to care givers desiring some extra help in keeping track of individuals with Autism, Down Syndrome or any other factor, which may result in a loved-one tending to wander off. Sunset Monitoring Services is also very excited to have recently introduced, a do it yourself type of GPS personal locator service. This system comes with a very small GPS transmitter, an easy to access and easy to use, internet based monitoring, tracking and locator service. This new platform is available to anyone throughout the United States and on a limited basis world-wide.
Sunset Monitoring Services' company founder is a retired probation/parole officer, having served as an agent with The State of Utah Department of Corrections, Division of Adult Probation and Parole (AP&P) for over 22 years. For the final several years of his career, our founder headed up the electronic offender monitoring program in the Salt Lake County area. During that time, he had noticed several companies in the private sector were charging outrageous fees for relatively inexpensive monitoring equipment. With The State of Utah getting out of the business of providing Electronic Monitoring Services and with the private sector charging unreasonable fees, our company founder began seeing the courts were starting to move away from these valuable tools.
Our Company founder decided to retire from the Utah Department of Corrections and to use his contacts with several of the equipment manufacturers, to start Sunset Monitoring Services. Soon thereafter, he brought a trusted business associate on board, who also brings well over a dozen years of highly trained, dedicated and expert law enforcement/corrections experience, as well as several years of financial services industry experience to our company. Together, with more than 37 years of combined experience in local corrections/law enforcement service, these two professionals, oversee an extremely high quality, VERY LOW COST electronic monitoring services business, which is capable of fulfilling the various needs of our all our clients, whether they be, Individual Community Members and Private Citizens, Alcohol Abuse Treatment Programs, Local Courts, Correctional Agencies or of course the Criminal Offenders involved.
With our corrections, law enforcement and financial services industry backgrounds as invaluable resources, our company is able to easily integrate our offender monitoring operations seamlessly, with both the local community corrections agencies and the local courts system. Our numerous years of experience in serving the communities in which we’ve worked, also gives us the background knowledge and unmatched experience necessary to provide the highest quality and most reliable, professional electronic monitoring and tracking services as well as the very best personal locator services available at the absolute lowest possible prices.

Sunset Monitoring Services is not now, nor do we desire to ever become, anything even closely resembling an unwieldy, mega-giant corporation. Sunset Monitoring Services is unyieldingly committed to delivering the best possible services and maintaining the absolute lowest possible expenses to our clients, regardless of the much higher prices, which many of our competitors continue to charge, for similar or lesser services.
